One Box at a Time

Food For All is a registered Christchurch charity whose purpose is two-pronged:

  • Franprix Streamline Icon: https://streamlinehq.com Franprix Nutrition & Food Affordability – sourcing surplus fruit & vegetables and selling them at greatly reduced cost to local families.
  • Cash Briefcase Streamline Icon: https://streamlinehq.com Work Creation (“Food for Work”) – providing guided, paid opportunities for people to discover and develop their skills through real-world projects.

Our Mission and Vision

  • Mission: To connect Ōtautahi/Christchurch people and communities through healthy, affordable produce and meaningful, dignity-restoring work opportunities.
  • Vision: A community where no one goes hungry, everyone’s gifts are recognised, and people rebuild confidence, purpose and belonging.

What We Do

Our work is focused on two core initiatives designed to support our community.

Affordable Produce Packs

  • Weekly Market: Every Wednesday (February–December), 7:30 AM–10:30 AM, in the Riccarton Community Church (RCC) auditorium.
  • Offerings: Boxes of fresh, seasonal fruit & veg at a fraction of supermarket pricing (e.g. $10, $20, $40 and family-sized packs).
  • Food Bank Partnerships: Unsold or donated surplus is repackaged into food parcels for local food-bank recipients.
  • Success Story: Lisa, a 47-year-old Māori baker, began with one paid batch of cookies and within a week was producing six batches, three days a week—regaining confidence and income.

“Food for Work” Programme

  • Structure: Short, paid assignments matching each person’s interests and abilities (cooking, packing, literacy support, etc.).
  • Support: One-on-one mentoring (“grab a coffee with Jonny”) to identify talents and chart a pathway back into work.
